Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988 she became the chief congressional reporter. In 1992, she was made Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. She served on an advisory panel during the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She covered many notable reports, including arms control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
